Optimized Motorsports Group is building the most unlikely, yet hopeful, of off-roading contenders, a (factory-stock) 1973 Volkswagen Bug, to race in one of the most demanding and challenging off-road races in the world: the Baja 1000. Impossible? Maybe. Underdogs? Definitely. We’ll be racing to raise money for Heeling Autism, a guide-dog school that trains service dogs to assist children with Autism. With any luck, our modest bug will survive and endure through the elements of the Baja peninsula, and we’ll proudly be the last team crossing the finish line. With a little more luck, we’ll be helping kids with autism, and their families, overcome a far more impossible challenge.
